The Dating Human Method
Six practices for becoming more fully yourself through dating. Truth is the thread running through all six.
1. KNOW
Know what is true for you
Before you can tell the truth, you have to hear it. This is the work of self-awareness: values, desires, patterns, fears, inherited rules, and the difference between genuine preference and performance.
2. CHOOSE
Stop waiting to be chosen
Shift the center of gravity from “Do they like me?” to “What is my experience, and what am I choosing?” Agency replaces auditioning.
3. SHOW
Let yourself be seen
Authenticity requires visibility. Practice revealing yourself gradually and appropriately instead of managing an image designed to secure approval.
4. CONNECT
Meet the human, not the fantasy
A date is not a verdict, prize, rescuer, or obstacle. It is another person taking a vulnerable risk too. Connection grows through curiosity, presence, reciprocity, and respect.
5. COMMUNICATE
Tell the truth kindly
Express interest, uncertainty, needs, questions, boundaries, disappointment, and changes of heart clearly — without manipulation and without unnecessary cruelty.
6. ALIGN
Let reality be real
Not every honest connection becomes a lasting relationship. Alignment means letting fit, timing, values, and life direction matter without turning incompatibility into a verdict on anyone’s worth.
BECOME — love without abandoning yourself
The outcome isn’t “become irresistible.” It’s this:
Measure success by integrity and growth — not only by whether a relationship continues.
Three practices you can try this week
These are three of the exercises we work with. The full set lives inside the program, but these stand on their own.
The Unedited Want
from KNOW
Write what you actually want from dating, before translating it into what sounds reasonable or impressive.
What do I want more of in my life?
How do I want to feel around a person I date?
What am I reluctant to admit I want?
The Approval Flip
from CHOOSE
Catch approval-seeking and return to discernment.
Am I evaluating this connection, or only myself?
What did I enjoy? What did I not enjoy?
What am I curious to learn next?
Small Truth Practice
from SHOW
Say one low-stakes, genuine thing you might normally edit.
What would I normally say to sound more appealing?
What is actually true?
Can I say the true version kindly?
